Huahine - Sacred Sites and Legendary Places of Huahine

With your wonderful gift, we will take part in the Sacred Sites and Legendary Places of Huahine tour on our tropical getaway! Our guide will take us through a village where we will explore archaeological sites along the lakeshore and the Fare Pote'e Cultural Center. After that, we will make our way to Mata'ire'a Hill to witness marae, agricultural terraces, house foundations, fortification walls and burial platforms before visiting Faie Village to feed blue-eyed eels. This tour will end with a visit to Belvedere Lookout to admire the stunning views of Maroe Bay and Huahine Iti, and a stop in Fare!

Bora Bora Lagoon Cruise and Polynesian Feast

Lagoon tour of Bora Bora in a traditional outrigger canoe (motorized), with ukulele animation and narration on culture, history and nature of Bora Bora. The lagoon tour includes three stops. The first one is for snorkeling in a coral garden, where visitors can discover many different colorful fish, corals, and many other inhabitants of a wonderful natural ecosystem. The guide accompanies the visitors in the water. The second stop is the visit of the stingrays in shallow water. These rays are tamed since more than 20 years. The approach is gentle and respectful, keeping in mind preservation of nature. The last stop is on the ocean side, for the observation of black tip reef sharks. After the morning of snorkelling, Polynesian feast is served on a private island (motu). Lunch is cooked in a traditional earth oven made with volcanic rocks, and covered by banana leaves.

Farkava Half Day to Teehatea Beach

Depart the ship by small local boats across the beautiful UNESCO biosphere reserve of Fakarava to the white sand beach of Teahatea just after the Garuae Pass. The boat is (8m) 50 long, special for excursions. It is equipped with all safety equipment and with a covered top and sides. The boat ride takes approximately 30 minutes depending on the weather conditions. You will have 2-2 ½ hours of free time to relax on the beach, enjoy a swim in the crystal clear lagoon or go snorkeling. Depart the marina platform aboard a Zodiac® boat for the ride to the SCUBA Shark Gallery. Upon arrival, your guide will provide you with your safety and diving instructions, then lead you into the water for an exciting and educational shark dive. You will observe the behavior of sharks in their natural habitat and discover why their bad reputation is not deserved. The black-tipped sharks that live here will likely come near the surface to welcome you and be present throughout the dive. At times, a larger lemon shark may make an appearance. Moorea Waverunner Adventure

Indulge Heather and Brett with an experience in Moorea's idyllic coastal beauty in an exciting new way during this fun-filled waverunner adventure. Depart the pier for the boat transfer to the waverunner center. Upon arrival, you will receive your safety and simple operating instructions from your guide, then embark your waverunner and begin your ride. Led by your guide, you will cruise either along the west coast of Moorea or through the spectacular Opunohu Bay or Cook's Bay. Along the way, a stop will be made at Motu Ono for an opportunity to feed elegant and graceful rays as they swim around you in the shallow water. Fresh fruit and beverages will then be served on the motu. Following your visit, you will be transferred to the waverunner center, then back to the pier.

Rangiora Black Pearl Farm

Explore Rangiroa’s black pearl industry, learn about pearl cultivation, and shop for unset black pearls during this memorable visit to the Black Pearl Farm. Depart the pier for a ride along Rangiroa’s main road, past the airport and on to the Black Pearl Farm. Most pearl farms are small-sized, and the number of workers at this farm is quite representative of the farms in this region. Upon arrival at the farm, the staff will give you a brief lecture about the farming and production of black pearls. You will learn about the chronology and evolution of the industry, and how oysters are selected, grown, and then grafted for production. Following the lecture, you will proceed to the work sheds where oysters are sorted and cleaned, and watch a grafter at work as he skillfully plies his trade. The highlight of the excursion will be an opportunity to view a selection of unset black pearls that are available for purchase. Here, your guide will show you the criteria for grading pearls in terms of quality. The shape and luster are very important. You will see the round, baroque, and semi-baroque pearls ranging in grades from C to A.

During this shallow dive not exceeding 40 ft (12 meters), you will discover the beauty of Moorea's coral reef, harboring a wide variety of fish ranging from Paddletail Snappers, Starry Pufferfish to juvenile Angelfish. Most of the time, Rotui will welcome you with its limpid water and easy diving conditions, making this dive perfect for novices. Lemon and Blacktip Reef Sharks are often times seen during this underwater adventure. Many different overhangs are also part of this wonderful landscape, home to Soldierfish and Squirrelfish.

Scuba Toopua Beginner Dive

Beginning divers won't want to miss this unique opportunity to explore Bora Bora's extraordinary undersea beauty duringa memorable SCUBA tour. Depart the marina platform for the boat ride tothe dive site. Located at the edge of a submerged crater, this dive site features an abundance of tropical fish and large coral formations that form an ideal habitat for many invertebrates. Since the maximum beginner depth is 40 feet, an easy descent in 12 feet of water makes this a good site for beginning divers. Upon entering the water, you couldbe greeted by inquisitive butterflyfish and angelfish. This site has steep coral slopes dotted with mushroom-like coral formations, or porites, where tropical fish hide and feed. While admiring the imbedded Polynesian clams, you may even see a gigantic Javanese moray eel make an appearance. You might also see big triggerfish, clownfish, sea anemones, and octopus. Following your dive, you will be returned to the marina platform.

Taha Society Islands 2 Tank Dive

Depart the marina platform aboard a local dive boat where you will receive your safety briefing during the 30 minutes ride to the pass of Tiva between Tahaa and Raiatea. Once on the site you will be helped to gear up and when the whole group will be ready you will entry in the water and dive along the side of the pass where you will be looking into the blue for pelagic fish, rays and possibly sharks. The maximum depth of this dive will be around 80 feet (25 meters). Between the two dives you will stay on the boat for approximately one hour surface interval while moving to the second dive site called Miri-Miri. The second dive will take place on the outer reef of the lagoon of Raiatea. During this dive you will glide along the reef surrounded by friendly black-tip reef sharks and may have the chance to spot a big Napoleon wrasse among the reef fish. The maximum depth of this second dive will be maximum 70 feet (20 meters). After the second dive you will be transferred back to Motu Mahana where you will enjoy the complimentary barbecue served to all Paul Gauguin Cruises' guests.
